Not long ago, the West was known for its fierce defense of liberty. Today, it is drifting toward tyranny—imprisoning people for praying against evil, for keeping churches open, or for daring to speak unpopular truths. Christianity is being driven from the public square, leaving the vacuum to be filled by pagan creeds. Islam, in particular, has spread rapidly across the West, eroding the very freedoms and prosperity that once defined it.
In this episode of Kings & Statesmen, Lennox Kalifungwa and David Shepard sit down with Dr. Joseph Boot to examine this troubling shift.

Christianity is the religion that promotes this foundational truth: the state does not own the soul of man.
From the apostolic age to the Reformation, the belief that government must be limited—subject to divine authority rather than an unchecked earthly power—has undergirded the most potent call for liberty in society.
We stand today at a crossroads, where the claims of the state once again encroach upon the sovereignty of conscience. But history teaches us this: liberty is not a gift bestowed by earthly rulers; it is a birthright granted by God. And it is the duty of the faithful to defend it.

The American Experiment remains one of history’s most remarkable undertakings—a rare moment when a people shaped by a robust Christian worldview endeavored to build a government from the ground up, firmly rooted in biblical principles. Unlike nations that emerged under monarchs, tribal hierarchies, or feudal inheritance, early America was deliberately crafted by men who believed that true liberty and justice must be anchored to the law of God. Though far from monolithic—and not without flaws—the founders broadly affirmed that Christianity was indispensable to the health of public virtue and good governance.
In this episode, Lennox Kalifungwa and David Shepard are joined by Dr. Chris Schlect and Dr. Jordan Dorney to explore the religious foundations of the American republic, examining the theological convictions and competing philosophies that helped shape the nation’s character.

Wherever you see a culture that lives under the heavy hand of totalitarian tyranny, there is fundamentally a deficiency in masculinity. Weak and neutered men are enablers of tyranny. When men assume the responsibility of building, protecting, providing and leading, it prevents tyrants from assuming ownership of the property and personnel of others.
In this latest episode, Lennox Kalifungwa and David Shepard are joined by Bryce Eddy and Will Spencer to discuss the necessity of virtuous masculinity for good political governance.

Washington, D.C. is a city of blasphemous contradictions—cathedrals of Christian architecture towering over corridors of decadence and deceit. In this episode of Kings and Statesmen, we ask: what happens when a city built on Scripture forgets its Author?
Joined by Nick Solheim, Jared Longshore, and Joe Rigney, we declare a bold vision—to reclaim the capital for Christ. It’s time for churches to roar, not whisper. Time for Nathans to confront kings. For cities on hills to blind the darkness. This isn't about nostalgia. It's about dominion. Christ owns D.C.—and we’re here to plant the flag.

A new generation of political leaders is rising—unimpressed by the decadence, compromise, and cowardice that have come to characterize modern public life. In their sights: a political renewal rooted in the time-tested virtues that once made America strong. Diligence. Responsibility. Service. Integrity. Faith. These are not relics of a bygone era, but the raw materials needed to forge just governance in our time. The hour is late, but the moment is ripe—to build the men we need.
In this episode, Lennox Kalifungwa and David Shepard sit down with Nick Solheim and Dr. Jared Longshore to explore how Gen Z is uniquely positioned to reshape the political landscape—not by conforming to the status quo, but by reclaiming the mantle of courageous leadership.

A growing political restlessness is sweeping across the globe, embodied in movements such as Javier Milei’s libertarian surge in Argentina, Nayib Bukele’s crackdown on crime in El Salvador, and Donald Trump’s resurgent MAGA campaign in the United States. Each of these movements—distinct in approach yet unified in their conservative impulses—has arisen against the backdrop of a world spiraling into political and economic disorder. Their success signals a broader hunger for order, stability, and governance rooted in principles rather than perpetual crisis management. This moment presents an extraordinary opportunity for Christians to articulate and advance a vision of governance that liberates and prospers—one grounded in the Lordship of Christ. The task at hand is not merely to participate in politics but to reestablish Mere Christendom as the highest order of thought and practice across every sphere of life, including the political realm.
In this episode, Lennox Kalifungwa and David Shepard are joined by Doug Wilson (NSA founder) and Ben Merkle (NSA President) to discuss the politics of mere Christendom in a modern world.

What Does "Separation of Church and State" Really Mean?
Too often, the phrase is twisted to mean a separation of God from the State—or religion from politics. But the truth is this: Christ is Lord over the State. He defines its purpose, limits its power, and demands its obedience. A just society cannot exist if the State becomes a law unto itself. True liberty only flourishes when rulers submit to God. Christianity alone offers a foundation strong enough to resist tyranny and promote lasting freedom.
In this episode, co-hosts David Shepard and Lennox Kalifungwa are joined by Pastor Toby Sumpter and Dr. Glenn Sunshine to examine the God-ordained role of the State and the long arc of Christian political thought.
