The Church and the State are two distinct governments that God has established under His sovereign rule and reign. While distinct from each other, they are not separate from God and ought to be accountable to one another. The church that fails to do its duty enables a tyrannical state. The church that does its duty enables justice to prevail in the public square.
Jeff Durbin, pastor of Apologia Church and President of End Abortion Now, joins Kings & Statesmen to discuss the place of the church in propagating righteous laws and edicts.

Not long ago, the West was known for its fierce defense of liberty. Today, it is drifting toward tyranny—imprisoning people for praying against evil, for keeping churches open, or for daring to speak unpopular truths. Christianity is being driven from the public square, leaving the vacuum to be filled by pagan creeds. Islam, in particular, has spread rapidly across the West, eroding the very freedoms and prosperity that once defined it.
In this episode of Kings & Statesmen, Lennox Kalifungwa and David Shepard sit down with Dr. Joseph Boot to examine this troubling shift.

Christianity is the religion that promotes this foundational truth: the state does not own the soul of man.
From the apostolic age to the Reformation, the belief that government must be limited—subject to divine authority rather than an unchecked earthly power—has undergirded the most potent call for liberty in society.
We stand today at a crossroads, where the claims of the state once again encroach upon the sovereignty of conscience. But history teaches us this: liberty is not a gift bestowed by earthly rulers; it is a birthright granted by God. And it is the duty of the faithful to defend it.

The American Experiment remains one of history’s most remarkable undertakings—a rare moment when a people shaped by a robust Christian worldview endeavored to build a government from the ground up, firmly rooted in biblical principles. Unlike nations that emerged under monarchs, tribal hierarchies, or feudal inheritance, early America was deliberately crafted by men who believed that true liberty and justice must be anchored to the law of God. Though far from monolithic—and not without flaws—the founders broadly affirmed that Christianity was indispensable to the health of public virtue and good governance.
In this episode, Lennox Kalifungwa and David Shepard are joined by Dr. Chris Schlect and Dr. Jordan Dorney to explore the religious foundations of the American republic, examining the theological convictions and competing philosophies that helped shape the nation’s character.

Wherever you see a culture that lives under the heavy hand of totalitarian tyranny, there is fundamentally a deficiency in masculinity. Weak and neutered men are enablers of tyranny. When men assume the responsibility of building, protecting, providing and leading, it prevents tyrants from assuming ownership of the property and personnel of others.
In this latest episode, Lennox Kalifungwa and David Shepard are joined by Bryce Eddy and Will Spencer to discuss the necessity of virtuous masculinity for good political governance.
